Review: Cache

Last week, I was treated to a delicious meal at Josiah Citrin's new restaurant in Santa Monica, Cache. Though less expensive than his two Michelin-starred Melisse (also in Santa Monica), Cache is still pretty pricey, so I'd say it's a special occasion kind of place.

That's also because if you ate here all the time, perhaps you'd stop appreciating the ingenuity of plates like crostini with lusciously tender pieces of marrow and mushroom tapenade, deep red heirloom carrots glazed with tropical passion fruit, and startlingly white halibut with baby artichokes and bacon. Then again, how could you possibly take food like that for granted?

The wine list, too, is quite expensive, but there are some very special bottles on the list, and the overall ambiance of the restaurant exudes understated class. This is definitely going to be one of my new favorites around town.
