Hollywood Hotel Business

This week, there was a very interesting article in the New York Times about the M.O. of the upper echelon of Hollywood hotels where deals are being brokered these days. Veering away from the too-cool-for-you aesthetic of yore, with poolside DJ's, model-hot staffs and design elements that overshadow the actual experience of staying in an establishment, Hollywood Hotels (led by the Sunset Tower Hotel, if the NYT is to be believed) are finding that their clientele appreciate a touch of understated class and paramount privacy more than any "cool" feature.
All in all, I thought it was an interesting trend piece, and it got me thinking a lot about what's going on in our local hospitality industry as I wrote it up for HotelChatter.
